A bit too soft for my liking - I was quite disappointed with this CD, it kept coming up in searches as a hard rock CD, and although occasionally it does build to some heavy moments they are few and far between. What is even stranger is when i ripped it to my itunes the genre said Heavy Metal. As i said when it does get heavy it sounds fantastic its just that it doesn t happen much. Far too much wishy washy soft atmospheric stuff, found myself getting very bored waiting for some heavier moments. In the end its too hard sitting through all the soft stuff for the sparse heavy moments.

Pretty Much Amazing - Alright I love this damn album. How ever you have to go into this one wanting a alternative album not some much a metal album. There definately are some metal over tones but thats not what the album is built on. There are alot of different facits here. If you don t like a broad range of stuff in your music you may not like this.... and there for you might suck... i mean it happens.

FAntastic Album - Can t define thier sound,.best I can say is they have a art metal sound to thier music. Very good album.

Biggest anticlimactic album ever - All I can say is this album is a let-down. Rapture is a great song, but after that the album goes downhill fast. If you like Rapture, download the single, the rest isn t worth listening too.

A warning to you! - It is a rare thing in this world of half-hearted, purely mercenary, and shallow music that a band with so much raw and un-ending talent comes through the muck. Hurt is one of these bands. I remember how I found them: While walking through a music section of one of those Megalo-stores I found myself queuing up samples of CDs on their kiosk players. I picked up Volume 1 and scanned it. I must say I was taken away immediately and placed my online order that night for a copy. I will let you know this, I am a Hurt addict and not ashamed to say it!The feeling you get when you listen to their oft changing melodies and rhythms is something akin to finding someone that fully understands exactly what you are going through and tells you exactly what you need to hear when you need to hear it. I don t mean to sound drastic or dramatic, but that is seriously how it came out to me. The first song Shallow is a bit of a sample to the treats that are to come with the remainder of the album, going on a roller coaster ride from soft melodic `trip rock to hard, heavy-ness that boarders a bit of metal from time to time. This is pretty much the whole album. You have songs like Rapture and then songs like Danse Russe. Both are appealing to the many different genres that are popular in the rock world. To continue on with this discussion I must speak a bit about the lyrics. There are several bands that sing about similar subject matter as Hurt s darker side, Tool, The Mars Volta, and several others come to mind, but the way Hurt puts it all together with some of the subtle yet hard-hitting to the close listener phrases just brining the songs up to the level of `epic . What comes to mind as an example is a bit from the song Rapture, I believe (I don t have the music with me at the moment to be sure), that states She swore she heard the voice of Jesus, telling her not to keep it... That s some deep stuff, and that is not even a small bit of the whole. If you are reading these reviews to be sure if you should buy this or not, don t make the mistake of passing this album up. Its great stuff that will appease any rock fan.
